About Event
Proposing a new-generation faculty development program (FDP) which introduces the power of Model Based Design (MBD) concepts and a leading solution offered by solidThinking’s Embed. This FDP will introduce the faculty to the modern-day system design engineering approach being widely adopted in the industry. The program will emphasize the relevance of model based system design and how it helps in simplifying design process, improves quality, shortens development time, lowers engineering cost, and reduces rework. The program will also help the faculties to understand how MBD based concepts can be incorporated into university curriculum and its importance in training graduates to be skilled and ready for industry. Industry has greatly adopted MBD approach for the development of complex engineering systems like Control Systems, Avionics & Automotive, Digital Power Design, Communication, Process Control, and Automation. MBD and control systems is a hot topic of research worldwide and has high demand in the core engineering industries. solidThinking’s Embed is a comprehensive MBD Tool from Altair, an American MNC. With this well designed one-day faculty development program Altair intends to train-the-trainers in the benefits of MBD for design and analysis of system. This will involve discussions extending from initial model generation, different levels of modeling (MIL, SIL, HIL) using sT Embed and finally to the deployment of a controller on a real-time target. The hands-on training will be done using a Texas Instruments hardware kit with a 32-bit processor with peripherals such as ADC, PWM, UART, I2C, GPIO etc. During the training, faculty will be familiarized with the entire MDB based development process from algorithm design to target code generation without sacrificing efficiency in design, testing, validation and optimization of the embedded system. The toolchain provides a common environment for design and development of multi-disciplinary embedded systems well suited for Electrical, Electronics & Communication, Mechatronics, Avionics and Automobile Engineering Department Labs.

How to reach Karunya University, Coimbatore
Karunya University is located 25 kms away from Coimbatore in the very bosom of Mother Nature. Karunya University has one of the most beautiful campuses in India. The University is surrounded by an array of green-clad, sky scraping mountains of the Western Ghats. The weather is cool and breezy with the clouds from the Kerala side drifting high over the mountains giving frequent drizzles. The Siruvani river with its crystal clear water has its origin here and it is nature's boon to Coimbatore. The Siruvani reservoir, which supplies water to Coimbatore City, is some 17 kms away up in the hills on the Kerala side. Just 2 kms away from the campus on three sides one will hit the Tamilnadu reserve forest. The famous Kovai Kurtallam falls are located 2 kms inside this forest and is accessible by motorable road. Elephants, panthers and wild boars at times wander in to these parts of the forest. The Noyyal river , which flows through Coimbatore and Tirupur on its way to the Bhavani , originates here and its branches surround the Karunya campus.
Karunya is thus set in a natural environment ideal for a residential institution. During leisure time, one can feast on the mountains, the skies with its rainbow colours and the horizon. One with an aesthetic sense will not miss the waters trickling down the hills, the birds that sing sweetly on the trees, the cool breeze and the drizzles. The evening sky will often treat you to some dazzling display of colors. Sitting out there in the open on the campus looking at the mountains can be an elevating experience. A serene calm prevails punctuated only by the cries of homing birds. One cannot but wonder at the amazing craftsmanship of God Almighty. The peace and tranquility of the campus is ideal for spiritual and intellectual pursuits.
