About Event

Image processing is a method to convert an image into digital form and perform some operations on it, in order to get an enhanced image or to extract some useful information from it. It is the processing of images with mathematical operations using any form of signal processing for which the input is an image, a series of images, or a video, such as a photograph or video frame; the output of image processing may be either an image or a set of characteristics or parameters related to the image.
Cervical cancer is one of the most common cancers in women worldwide. It occurs when abnormal cells on the cervix grow out of control. Cervix is the cone-shaped lowest part of the uterus that opens into the vagina. Cervical cancer can often be successfully treated when it's found early. Most cases of cervical cancer can be prevented through screening programs aimed at detecting precancerous lesions. To detect cervical cancer, the state does not possess the adequate infrastructure. Image processing is used to automate the screening process and to provide specific statistical data which will be helpful for detecting abnormalities in cervical region. Image Processing Toolbox was used to segment the digital images and calculate various statistical data.
The aim of this seminar is to bring together researchers in the field of cervical cancer and image processing and discuss the recent advances of detection of cervical cancer using Image Processing.
