Overview to Data Science
Introduction - Today’s problem statement
Ice breaker session
Data Collection (SQL)
Connect to a simulated database
Write SQL queries to pull data
Join tables if needed
Export query results into CSV for Python work
Data Cleaning (Python - Pandas)
Load CSV into Pandas DataFrame
Handle missing values, data type issues
Standardize column names
Remove duplicates or incorrect entries
Exploratory Data Analysis (EDA)
Descriptive statistics (mean, median, counts)
Data visualizations (matplotlib/seaborn)
Identify patterns and trends
Detect outliers
Feature Engineering
Create new features
Encode categorical variables (label encoding, one-hot)
Normalize or standardize features if needed
Model Building and Evaluation
Split data into training and testing sets
Build a Logistic/Linear Regression model
Evaluate using metrics such as Accuracy, Precision, Recall, Confusion Matrix, RMSE etc
Discuss ways to improve the model (more features, better cleaning, different algorithms)
Wrap-Up: Model Review + Discussion
Review everyone's model results
Talk about next steps (hyperparameter tuning, trying other models like Random Forests)
Share additional learning resources
Feedback and Q&A

*This Workshop is strictly for College STUDENTS, since the course content has been designed according to the students.
*Professionals, Experts and Faculty Members of colleges/Schools/Parents are not allowed to join this Workshop and same do not fall in our eligible candidate list.
*The workshop is conducted by Top Engineers only and not by IIT Madras Research Park or IIT Madras or Anna University.
*IIT Madras / IIT Madras Research Park is only a venue.
*Participants are informed not to contact IIT Madras Research Park or IIT Madras or Anna University and not to enquire about TOP ENGINEERS workshops.
*Certificates will be given only at the end of the workshop.
* Kindly bring your college id card or any ID proof along with a photocopy of your pay slip or ticket details in mobile.
* Seats are filled on "first come & first serve" basis. No on the spot payment is allowed.
*Session timings – 9.30 AM to 4.30 PM (Lunch Break -12.30 noon to 1.15 PM - Veg only).

Workshops

* Laptops, pen drive and data card or mobile with net connection are compulsory and we request you to bring the laptop with full power backup. If you're coming in groups you can share laptops with your friends.
*We are not responsible for any software failing to run/install on the participant's laptop.
*Late comers will not be entertained.
*No accommodation will be provided.
*No particular dress code.
* Theory vs. Practice Ratio for Workshops: 50% theory 50% Practical.
*Kits are not taking away and should be handed over at the end of the session.
*Charges for the Workshop are non-refundable, non-transferable and non-extendable.
