Optimization is a key concept in mathematics,
computer science, and operations research, and
is essential to the modeling of any system,
playing an integral role in computer-aided design.
The main objective of this FDP on “Optimization
Techniques and its emerging Applications” is to
acquaint the participants with the practical
aspects of optimization methodology, with a
major focus on the techniques and strategies
through lectures sessions. The FDP will be useful
to research scholars, faculty and personnel
working in the domains of optimization
algorithms, ranging from those applicable to the
minimization of a single-variable function to those
suitable for large-scale nonlinearly constrained
applications. The course covers introduction to
optimization; classification of optimization
problem, unconstrained minimization –
univariable cases and multivariable cases,
quadratic optimization problem, constrained
optimization, linear programming and nonlinear
programming with application examples.
