About Event

We the Computer Society of MIT (CSMIT) is an evolving intellectual student body, functions to make technocrats out of both the casual and benighted students. The Computer Society of ( then called Computer Club )Madras Institute of Technology, Anna University, Chrompet was founded in 1983, but the students of non-InfoTech branches with a view of improving their knowledge in the field of computers. Later, when the departments of Computer Science & Engineering and Information Technology were formed, the students from these courses also began to take part actively in the functioning of society. This is a student body associated with the Computer Center of MIT.

During its initial years, the society mainly concentrated on getting expertise with the basics of computers and programming languages such as C. Later, it included the tools required by various streams like hardware designing and simulation software for the students of electronic stream, etc. Over the years. society has evolved, from being just an organization for imparting knowledge to an active participant in the evolution and promotion of Free & Open Source Software (FOSS)..
