About Event

The Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati shall be organizing the twenty-third edition of its annual techno-management festival, Techniche, as an online event. Lecture Series, Techniche 2021 is conducting a series of webinars as part of its pre-fest and is proud to present its next keynote speaker, Dr. William Daniel Phillips.

Dr. William Phillips developed revolutionary ways to slow down atoms and molecules, which otherwise move at very high speeds in air. Using Laser Light and photon's energy for Doppler Effects, he successfully cooled the atoms to very low temperatures to effectively trap them and conduct further studies. This outstanding work won him the Nobel Prize in Physics in the year 1997. He is also a member of the USA Science and Engineering Festival's Advisory Board.
