This workshop will provide a working knowledge of the key composite coatings for medical equipment's and implants used as biomaterials for medical devices. Participants would enhance career prospects and possibilities for the participants to excel in the field of composite coatings.

With millions of medical implants in use every year globally there is a large demand for engineering biomaterials to overcome the limitations of the devices used in the clinic. One of the most convenient ways to overcome this problem is to coat the surface of implants metallic parts with various wear and corrosion resistant coatings such as TiO2, TiN etc. to improve the tribological properties of metallic parts of implants. Hard coatings coating due to its extremely high hardness and fracture toughness and also higher corrosion and oxidation resistance can be an alternate solution for biomaterials in medical application
