OBJECTIVE
IPR is one of the most basic rights of an intellectual to claim ownership to one's own creations and derive benefits out of it. Several universities in the developed countries have been generating enormous resources through the IPR. However, awareness about the importance of IPR has not been given emphasis in the academic community in our country. Every year students are working on various projects with the guidance of
Faculty members and giving more importance for publishing the outcomes in Conferences/Journals. Although publications are certainly important, protection of one's innovations and inventions are also equally important. Conversion of innovative
projects into viable products and claiming IPR has not rooted deep in academia especially in Engineering Colleges and other academic institutions. This lack of awareness has led to loss
of several of students/faculty members intellectual properties and thereby our competitiveness. In this context, this IPR awareness workshop is organized to give strong momentum to the innovation initiatives of students/Faculty members and facilitate protection of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR).
