About Event
The Annual Research and Technology Festival of the Department of Mechanical Engineering of IIT Bombay, or Radiance, was first initiated in the year 2007. Over the years, it has built its own legacy and reputation of being a platform for fostering brotherhood amongst the Mechanical Engineering fraternity across the nation. It is a stage for discussion of the challenges plaguing Mechanical Engineering, of the wide world of opportunities that lies before us, and of the innovative and creative ideas that just strike people, in the "Radiance" environment.
The festival features lectures by eminent researchers, scientists and veterans in the industrial arena. The main events include the national level research paper presentation competition, serving as a large scale symposium of mechanical engineers and the industrial defined problem, wherein real life industrial problems are opened up for all to have a go at. The other events include workshops, exhibitions and several competitions to attract the student community.

2. WORKSHOPS:
An interesting opportunity to learn new things and build working prototype of models. The workshop provides a complete learning experience to the participants. These workshops encompass all the concepts and principals involved. Following are the workshops, which are going to be held in Radiance'15.

3. EXHIBITIONS
At exhibitions, we strive to display the latest technology and cutting edge developments that have taken place in the field on Mechanical Engineering in recent years. The Exhibitions serve as an ideal platform for the budding technocrats to gain unique technical exposure and gives them opportunities to interact with various researchers and innovators. This year, continuing our tradition to showcase the latest developments and breakthroughs to our tech-savvy audience, we have a great line up of exhibits - both from inside and outside IITB.
This year the exhibits include the Mars Rover, IIT Bombay Racing car, Low cost CNC machine, Quadcoptor, Driverless car, Remote inspection vehicle and many more projects designed by students.
You can also be a part of Radiance’s Exhibitions. Send us a brief abstract of your prototype/model with at least three photographs to nayanpalat@radianceiitb.org with the subject "Radiance_project name". Selected prototype will be displayed in Radiance IIT Bombay.
4. LECTURES:
For all enthusiasts in academia, Radiance has always offered a vast array of lectures by professionals, eminent scientists and corporate top bosses. Their passionate oratory and description about their respective fields has always been a very motivating experience for those aiming to emulate their success.
Eminent lecturers who have been a part of the Radiance lecture series inslude:
- Dr. V Narayanan, Deputy Director for GSLV project, ISRO
- Mr. Sadekar, Vice-president at Larsen N Toubro
- Dr. Sreerup Raychaudhary, from Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, also a memeber at CERN, Geneva
