The 3 day Tech-Fiesta of Department of Mechanical Engineering of GCE, Salem -MEKCHAT 14.0 “GEAR UP FOR THE RIDE” is all set to drive the gears of change, propel the dreams of millions and ignite the minds of Invention. In the true spirits of scintillating engineering, GCE Salem invites all Mech freaks, fans and aficionados to celebrate their passion for this fascinating art of engineering and prove their mettle among the best. You may be the perverted CAD genius, the junkyard specialist, the Automobile freak, the robotics nerd or the master machinist- We have always something there for you. Loads of events, loads of prizes and all day fun awaiting you. You have just found your destination.

Accommodation

Accommodation will be provided on first come first serve basis. You will be provided pillows and bedspreads in hostels in dormitory arrangement. We will be providing you accommodation from 6th March (Thrusday) night to 8th March (Saturday) evening. The Team leaders should send their travel details at least one week before to accom@mekchat.in to avoid inconvenience. Number of Team members and their names Expected Date and time of arrival Accommodation would be inside the GCE campus and would be on strictly shared basis. Accomodation would be provided at Rs.100 for one day(24 hrs). Please ensure that you send a mail else we cannot assure you of accommodation even if you are registered online. Stay at Campus Each team is supposed to call the accommodation co ordinators upon arrival. They will escort you for lodging. You are also requested to keep your college I-Card with you. You will be issued a Mekchat I-Card when you reach Salem. Please keep this I-Card with you at all times during the three days of the festival. Discipline In event of any untoward incidents or misbehavior of any kind (hooliganism, rowdiness, having alcohol etc), Mekchat team reserves the right to take any punitive action as deemed necessary, even to the extent of confiscating, canceling the participation of the concerned college, escorting them off the campus and sending a report of misconduct to the head of the concerned institution.

How to reach Government College of Engineering Salem

Easily accessible by road and rail. Just 7 km from the Salem Bus Stand. Any buses towards Omalur take you through to us. At a distance of around 5 km from the Salem Railway station, the college is well connected by buses from there as well. Autos run in plenty towards the college. A tranquil atmosphere on the Bangalore highway awaits you folks!!!!
