About Event
Centre for Waste Management, Centre of Excellence for Energy Research was established with a vision to develop
new ideas and technologies towards achieving cleaner, greener and sustainable environment. The Centre since its
inception in 2011 has been involving in research leading to innovative products, developing patent liable novel ideas
in Waste Management, publishing the experimental outcomes in indexed/peer reviewed journals, training

activities so as to disseminate and demonstrate the research findings for societal benefits. as a waste management
measure a one-tonne capacity bio-gas plant has been established at the Sathyabama Institute of Science and
Technology, to digest anaerobically the enormous quantity of food waste generated daily from the mess that caters to
more than 10,000 inmates per day. This green initiative reduces the entry of several tonnes of food waste into the
landfills and thus contributes to the reduction of institutional carbon footprints. The one-day training will help the
participants get an introduction to the mechanisms by which food waste can be effectively converted into biogas
