About Event
Open defecation (OD) is one of the major disputes in rural sanitation system. There are many factors involved in elimination of open defecation system in India. Particularly, in rural parts of India .The lack of awareness, traditional cultural practices, poverty and complications in the existing sanitary system which requires more usage of water. Replacement of toilets pits after filing also discourages the usage of toiles. Open defecation also creates an unhygienic condition which serves as a platform for several diseases including diarrhea and intestinal worm infections etc., Due to fecal contamination the child mortality rate increases. Government of India has initiated the activities to make India ‘Open Defecation Free (ODF)’ through Swatchh Bharat Mission (SBM). The prime objective of this seminar is to create awareness among public, students, NGOs, faculty and researchers about rural sanitation and its importance.
