About Event
The DRDO-Sponsored National Level Seminar on Recent Advances in Power Electronics Technology for Electrical Machine Drives will describe the concept of advanced control strategies of ac machine drives and power converters along with their models. Electrical Motors are bulk energy consumers and nearly 70% of the electricity generated worldwide is used up by them. Thus there exists huge scope of saving energy by devising efficient operation of these electrical machines. One approach could be the special design of motor with high energy efficiency. Other approach lies in the proper control of the machines. The electrical motors employed in various applications runs at fixed speed. However, it is found that by varying the speed of motors depending upon the load requirements the efficiency can be improved significantly, thus the variable speed operation is extremely important for obtaining highly efficient operation of the machines. Thus the speed control of an ac machine for industrial and house hold applications is most vital for limiting green house gas emission and thus offering environmental friendly solution. Controlling the operation of an electrical machine by varying its speed, in literature is called ‘variable speed drive’ or ‘adjustable speed drives’.Events
