## BioCodeX 2026 – Bioinformatics & AI Drug Discovery Hackathon

**Internship Opportunity: Winners of BioCodeX 2026 will receive an opportunity to intern at Boltzmann Labs Pvt. Ltd.**, subject to the company's selection process and requirements.

**BioCodeX 2026** is the flagship **Bioinformatics Hackathon of BioYUVA 2026**, organized by **Club GENOVA, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Tiruchirappalli**, in association with **Boltzmann Labs Pvt. Ltd.** The hackathon brings together students interested in **bioinformatics, computational biology, artificial intelligence, drug discovery, protein engineering, and biotechnology**.

The event gives participants the opportunity to work on an **industry-led scientific problem statement**, develop a hypothesis, use computational and AI-powered bioinformatics tools, analyze results, and present their solution to an expert judging panel.

### Complete Bioinformatics & Boltzmann Labs Workshop

**Participants will receive a complete workshop on the use of Boltzmann Labs' computational tools and relevant bioinformatics tools before the competition.** The workshop will be provided by **Boltzmann Labs**, giving participants an opportunity to learn the tools and understand how they can be applied to computational biology and drug-discovery problems before entering the hackathon.

This means participants **do not need to already be experts in the Boltzmann Labs platform**. The workshop will help teams become familiar with the tools and prepare them for the industry-led challenge. The official rulebook confirms that the tool-use workshop will be provided to all participants ahead of the competition.

### Hackathon Format

The competition consists of **two rounds with a total of 36 hours of problem solving**.

**Round 1 – Online Round | 30 Hours**

An industry-led problem statement, developed in association with Boltzmann Labs, will be released to registered teams. Teams will have 30 hours to understand the problem, formulate a scientific hypothesis, and develop a computational solution using the **Boltzmann Labs tool suite**, along with other bioinformatics tools where required.

Teams must submit their **results, workflow/pipeline, tools used, and a brief report explaining their approach**.

**Round 2 – On-Campus Grand Finale | 6 Hours**

Qualifying teams will attend the final round at **SRM IST Tiruchirappalli**. Teams will receive changes to the problem statement and will have **6 hours to adapt their solution, solve the revised challenge, and present their final work to the judges**.

### Industry Exposure

The **Flagship Technology Partner, Boltzmann Labs**, is a BioAI company working on data-driven solutions for precision medicine. Its areas include **target and biomarker identification, small-molecule design, antibody design, protein engineering, and custom synthesis planning**. Participants will get exposure to its computational tool suite as part of the competition.

### Eligibility

BioCodeX is open to **undergraduate and postgraduate students**, including students pursuing B.Sc., B.Tech., B.E., M.Sc., M.Tech., M.E., and other bachelor's and master's programmes.

* **Team size:** 1–6 members
* Individual participation is allowed
* All members must be from the same college
* Each participant can be part of only one team

### Evaluation

Teams will be evaluated on:

* **Scientific Novelty – 25%**
* **Scientific Feasibility – 25%**
* **Tool Usage & Explanation – 20%**
* **Performance Under Constraint – 15%**
* **Presentation & Defence – 15%**

### Prizes & Internship

**Total Prize Pool: ₹10,000**

* 1st Prize – ₹5,000
* 2nd Prize – ₹3,000
* 3rd Prize – ₹2,000

In addition to the cash prizes, **winning participants will receive an opportunity to intern at Boltzmann Labs**, subject to the company's selection process and requirements. Winners will also receive certificates and recognition from the event partners, while all participants receive certificates of participation.
