About Event
The workshop “Computing Technologies for Geospatial Data Processing
with Hands-on” focuses on practical and computational approaches
to geospatial data analysis for disaster risk reduction. It covers
Digital Image Processing (DIP) techniques, Google Earth Engine
(cloud-based geospatial analysis), and drone-based data acquisition
and processing, with strong emphasis on real-world applications.
Participants will gain hands-on experience in processing satellite and
UAV data to assess and monitor disasters such as landslides and
GLOFs. The workshop demonstrates how advanced geospatial
computing technologies support disaster management, hazard
mapping, vulnerability assessment, and early warning systems.
Aligned with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 11 – Sustainable
Cities and Communities, the program highlights the role of geospatial
technologies in disaster risk reduction, resilience building, and
informed decision-making for safer and more sustainable environments.
This workshop aims to integrate the B.Tech CSE with Honors in
Geospatial Intelligence at CTech, SRMIST with the Data Science
course from the University of Florence to promote advanced geospatial
analytics, interdisciplinary research, and opportunities for
student exchange and higher studies.
Events
Day 1: Hands-on geospatial data processing of satellite
imagery using Digital Image Processing techniques
and Google Earth Engine for disaster risk assessment
(Landslides, GLOF).
Day 2: Practical training on drone technology including Ardu-
Pilot-based flight control, basic mission coding, and live
field demonstration for UAV-based data acquisition.
