Events

Format of the Competition:
* The speech is intended to reveal a competitor’s ability to develop a point of view on a general topic and to deliver impromptu speech within limited preparation time.
* Each participant will be given 5 minutes to speak extempore on a topic picked up by him or her.
* Bunch of the topics will be given to select any one randomly.
* He/she will be given 2 minutes prior to the speech to think over the topic.

Rules:
* Participant has to speak only in English.
* Maximum time limit to think over the topic will be 2 minutes and maximum time for speech will be 5 minutes.
* The participant will be allowed to select the topic once only.
* Participant will not be allowed to take any paper or material with him or her during the speech.
* Paper will be provided to make notes about the topic but they will not be allowed to carry them for the speech.

Judging Criteria:
* Judges will be looking for clarity of thought, logical organization, sincerity and the effective use of plain English.
* In case of a tie, the winner will be decided by the panel of judges by mutual discussion.
* Participant will be judged on the following criteria.
1. Approach/Departure
2. Appearance
3. Poise/Self-confidence
4. Voice projection/Inflection
5. Diction/Enunciation
6. Facial Expressions
7. Gestures
8. Eye Contact
9. Enthusiasm
10. Persuasiveness
11. Clear presentation of ideas
12. Worthwhile Message
