About Event
The inception of Prastuti dates back to the year 2001 when it was started as an All India Students' Paper Presentation contest organized by Electrical Engineering Society (EES). The idea of Prastuti as an event was brought up into realization by Prof. S.N. Mahendra of Electrical Engineering Department, and since then there was no looking back.
Over the years Prastuti has grown in stature and has made its impact across the nation. We have seen hundreds of papers presenting innovative ideas put forward by the young minds of the nation. With the sole vision of Prastuti being Growth of research instincts and inculcation of analytical and innovative streak amongst the scholars of technical institutions, we expanded our perspective and introduced various new events thereby encompassing myriad walks of the technical and professional world.
The Electrical Engineering Department, IIT (BHU) proudly presents the 17th iteration of the annual festival from April 6th to 8th, 2018. This year Prastuti gets better than ever, featuring a wide array of innovative events and thus reconstructing the era of technological renaissance.
Events
PAPER PRESENTATION
This is the most significant event of Prastuti. It provides a platform for students across the country to present their research ideas and innovations in the form of scientific papers, following the same high standards of scientific journals.
Papers are invited in three broad categories:
i. Electrical/Electronics Engineering
ii. Computer science engineering/ Applied mathematics
iii. Energy management
POSTERIZE
Posters are widely used in the academic community, and most conferences include poster presentations in their program. Research posters summarize information or research concisely and attractively to help publicize it and generate discussion. The poster is usually a mixture of a brief text mixed with tables, graphs, pictures, and other presentation formats. At a conference, the researcher stands by the poster display while other participants can come and view the presentation and interact with the author.
INDUSTRY-DEFINED PROBLEM
In this event, teams of participants have to come up with a comprehensive solution for the given real-life problem, which is released some time in advance. The problem statements are issued by eminent companies and comprise real problems faced by industries. The event serves as an excellent platform for engineering students to apply the skills and knowledge they possess and come up with creative and original solutions to problems posed by the industry.
CONSILIUM
Designing a circuit is perhaps one of the most important aspects of Electrical Engineering. But designing is not a skill that can be learned from textbooks. It needs to be learned by experience and wishful thinking. Consilium plans to test a person’s ability to think on their feet and meticulously design electric circuits with meager resources. Apart from this, the event also aims at testing one’s knowledge of electrical circuits and systems.
RECOGNIZANCE
This event is concerned with image processing and involves elements of machine learning. In this event, participants must develop a face recognition system, using MATLAB. The modules of the system are to be built in a certain order, with separate deadlines, and the modules are to be assembled and tested on the day of the event. This event requires its participants to have significant knowledge of MATLAB, image processing techniques and machine learning algorithms.
SIMULIM
Simulim is an event related to circuit simulation using various simulation softwares like Simulink, PSPICE, Ansoft etc. In this event, participants are given a quiz about simulation in general, followed by a set of problems to be simulated following some given specifications. This event tests the participants’ knowledge of computer simulation. Simulation is a particularly useful and essential skill to possess, in the context of present industry, which demands thorough and repeated testing of a product before release.
CODIGO
Codigo is an online competitive coding event which is organized during the fest week. A mock session will also be organized before the main event to acquaint the world of programming to beginners.
QUIZZARD
Event would be of two rounds. Participants would register in groups of two. The questions can be IQ based or related to Electrical stream.
