About Event

Synergy 2018 is an International Technical Symposium organized by Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (IETE-ISF) in association with School of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering - VIT University, Vellore. Symposium offers a one-of-a-kind experience to students by providing an array of opportunities under one umbrella. The idea behind Synergy'18 is to train students in future forward technologies through workshops and provide global exposure and esoteric knowledge through guest lectures delivered by eminent personalities.Synergy'18 looks forward to promote; ”Envisioning the Future”, which not only embraces one's desire to become better, but also enables one to be able to explain the myriad of emotions a person experiences on the path to success and spread the word.

Machine Learning and Data Scince
Data Science is an interdisciplinary field about processes and systems to extract knowledge or insights from large volumes of data in various forms either structured or unstructured, which will be used in Data Mining and Predictive Analytics, as well as Knowledge Discovery in Databases. CONTENTS: • Introduction to Python environment, installation procedure, IDE for Python, Navigating Jupyter Notebook • Understanding Variables and Data Types • Series & Data Frame data types in PANDAS • Loading Data from CSV & TXT files, Understanding Continuous & Categorical Data types & its Significance • Data Cleaning: Handling Outliers & Missing Values • Linear & Non-linear Regression Model for Prediction • Train/Test Split and K-fold Cross Validation Split & Standard Scalar Transforms • Logistic Regression Model as a Classifier • Ensemble Random Forest Classification Model • Artificial Neural Network Model • Supervised Neural Network Learning Model: Multilayer Perceptron Model as a Classifier

VLSI
Very-large-scale integration (VLSI) is the process of creating an integrated circuit (IC) by combining thousands of transistors into a single chip. VLSI Design Methodologies • Classification in Design Approach: Front End/Back End • Classification in Design implementation:FPGA, CPLD/Semi-custom (Standard cell,ASIC)/Full custom (ASIC, AMS) Overview of physical Design & Implementation •Post Synthesis simulation Design optimization simulation Floor planning & Clock distribution Placement & Routing (PNR) •Bit file (Net List) generation & Implementation: FPGA/CPLD/ASIC (Standard cell) Review of Digital System & FSM Design •Combination & Sequential Logic Circuit •Maximum Clock Frequency Calculation •Design Entry with HDL Design Entry with Verilog HDL & Overview to Programmable Platform •Design Using Blocking and Non-Blocking Statements •Design Simulation. Design Synthesis. •Modeling Combinational Circuit, Synchronous Logic Circuits, FSM. Introduction to Programmable Platforms (FPGA)

Wireless Voice Controlled Robotics
IETE-ISF, in association with roboVITics welcomes you to our Voice-Controlled Robotics workshop. Robotics is fundamentally a branch of technology that deals with the design, construction, operation, and application of robots. It is a powerful tool to understand the basic concepts of Computer Science, Mechanical engineering, and Electronics engineering. In this workshop a simplified version of C++ language for programming our Robot using the Arduino IDE. No coding experience is required; all you need is an Arduino, Bluetooth, some low cost hardware and electronics component for building the Robot. The workshop will start from basics of Arduino programming and then move to higher topics. In this workshop spanning 2 days, participants will be brushed up with the basics of robotics and the Arduino software. They will be taught how to handle the L293D IC and constructing a robot using it. Hardware kits will be provided.

Android App Development
A major share of hand-held devices runs on the Android Operating System - which is open source and customizable. The Android Application Development Workshop provides participants technical training on the concepts and programming methodologies needed to develop applications for mobile devices. Participants will learn to use different android libraries. Instruction is aided with live projects which will allow students to grasp concepts of the complete mobile application development life-cycle. COURSE HIGHLIGHTS • Participants will be able to develop their own android applications • Participants will understand working of various android applications • Participants are encouraged to think and come up with new application ideas • Interactive lecture sessions • Group discussions to encourage innovation • Good multimedia content to help students grasp the material easily

Code Olympia
CodeOlympia is a thrilling 12-hours non-stop coding competition held in association with HackerRank where participants get to showcase their coding skills. It’s an event where the participants can participate as an individual or in a team of 2. Participants will be given programming questions of varying levels, and there will be a plethora of coding languages to choose from, in order to solve them and provide the best optimized solution. DATE: 24th February 2018
