Fest – O- Comm (FOC) is an annual student festival hosted by Symbiosis Institute of Media and Communication (SIMC), PG, Pune. FOC is a one-of-its-kind communication fest, with a stunning mix of events, which range from media-related tasks to testing one’s business acumen. This year, FOC is back with the theme ‘The Art of Storytelling’. Presented by Zee Entertainment Enterprise Limited, Fest -O-Comm 2015 brings together creativity and talent on a common platform. This time around, prizes worth Rs. 5,00,000 are up for grabs through twenty events spanning academics, cultural and sports. Zee Entertainment Talent Platform, a stage that will host a variety of events that test the participants’ creativity and critical thinking, includes a wide spectrum of academic and cultural events ranging from Take 24, a 24-hour filmmaking event to Litmus, a case study competition. Besides a chance to showcase their exemplary work in front of a panel of judges from Zee Entertainment Enterprise Limited, the postgraduate winners of Zee Entertainment Talent Platform events will be awarded an internship with Zee Network. Exceptional performers among the participants also stand to win a pre-placement interview with Zee. Prizes worth Rs. 2,00,000 will be awarded to the winners of this competition. MIDIval Punditz, one of India’s leading fusion and electronica music groups, are set to enthrall the audience with their lively tunes. Students have the opportunity to design digital strategies for brands and participate in the best quizzing challenge as a part of Fest – O –Comm’s academic spectrum of events. Sports enthusiasts are not left far behind, with badminton, football and cricket keeping the excitement on the field high. With every passing year, SIMC has outdone itself and created a fest that attracts participation from several renowned B-schools across the country. In the past, the fest has hosted industry bigwigs as special guests, like Madhur Bhandarkar, Vidhu Vinod Chopra, Sudhir Mishra, Anurag Kashyap and Karan Oberoi. In 2014, a unique festival hosted by Symbiosis Institute of Media and Communication, SIMCinema Rewind 2014, celebrated creativity and individualism through its theme of films. This three-day extravaganza comprised events such as Photo Story, Film Quiz, Fashion Show and Battle of the Bands. Every year, the highlights of FOC include performances by some the country’s leading musicians, such as The Raghu Dixit Project. The fest’s events span across several spheres, which are Academic, Cultural, Sports, Gaming, Fine Arts, Performing Arts, and Literary Arts. Fest- O – Comm 2015 promises to be an interesting mix of artistry and entertainment, and it hopes to create, yet again, an atmosphere of youthful energy, learning and creativity.
