After a hugely successful first edition, Biofest 2013, the annual technical festival of the Department of Biotechnology, Indian Institute of Technology Madras, is back with a leitmotif of promoting research and innovation in various fields of Biosciences and Bioengineering. Being one of the few student-organized technical festivals, Biofest provides an ideal platform for academia and industry-student nexus, and promises to attract the brightest minds from across the country, invoking the spirit of creativity and scientific innovation. With a diverse range of events, workshops, and lectures, the festival aims at involving engineers, scientist, young entrepreneurs, future policy makers and even international students. Forensics, Open Quiz, Streax, Biorobotics and BioBiz are among the many exciting events scheduled to take place, with a total prize money of Rs.1 lakh on the line. The ultimate motive of the festival is to promote Biotechnology among students by giving them the opportunity to experience and showcase innovation, and explore the many wide-ranging academic possibilities in this field.
