About Event

Modern power system networks are large and interconnected. Power systems have been restructured in many parts of the world to create competition between different power producers. This has resulted into increased complexity and emergence of several new threats. Power system instability has been considered as an important threat for researchers and utilities since 1920. Traditionally, power system stability meant maintenance of synchronous operation between different generating units. Voltage instability has been considered as a new type of instability since last three decades. Several incidences of voltage collapse resulted from voltage instability, have been observed in different parts of the world. Voltage instability may occur in heavily loaded power systems. The restructuring of power systems may create new problems such as reduced Available Transfer Capability (ATC) and congestion of some of the transmission lines. This may further reduce voltage stability margin. This workshop is meant to interact and share knowledge with people working in similar areas to tackle the challenge of voltage instability.
