About Event

The Centre for Human Rights (CHR) at the National University of Advanced Legal Studies (NUALS), Kochi is organizing a Symposium on the topic, “Our Rights, Our Freedoms Always- Mapping Inroads for the Actualisation of Human Rights Ideals”, on 10th December 2015, at the Rajagiri School of Social Sciences, Kalamassery from 2:00pm to 5:00 pm.

The speakers at the symposium include Dr B. Kalam Pasha, Judge, Special Court-C.B.I who will deliver a lecture on The Convention on the Elimination of all Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW), Dr Sebastian Paul, former parliamentarian and noted human rights advocate who will be speaking about the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR) and International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (ICESCR) and Dr Athira P.S, Director, Centre for Intellectual Property Rights, NUALS who will be discussing the modern trends in Human Rights law. Providing a unique collaborative environment that fosters academic dialogue and social awareness, the symposium aims to help students understand and appreciate the importance of the rights and freedoms enshrined in International Covenants in upholding justice, and to open the doors of compassion in the negotiation of complex human rights issues.
