The Department of Mechanical Engineering, KPR Institute of Engineering and Technology (KPRIET), is organizing a technical workshop on “Introduction to Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD)” on 10 October 2026.

Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) is a powerful engineering simulation approach used to study and analyze the behavior of fluids and their interaction with engineering systems. It is widely applied in areas such as fluid flow analysis, heat transfer, pressure distribution, thermal systems, aerodynamics, turbomachinery, automotive engineering, and industrial process design.

This workshop is designed to introduce participants to the fundamentals and practical workflow of CFD. The session will cover the basic principles of CFD, governing equations, mathematical modeling, computational domain preparation, meshing techniques, boundary-condition setup, and interpretation of simulation results.

Topics Covered
Introduction to CFD Principles – Understanding the fundamentals of computational fluid dynamics and its engineering applications.
Governing Equations and Modeling Basics – Introduction to the fundamental equations used to represent fluid-flow problems and basic modeling concepts.
Meshing Techniques – Understanding how computational domains are divided into elements/cells for numerical analysis.
Boundary Conditions Setup – Learning how appropriate inlet, outlet, wall, and other boundary conditions are defined for CFD simulations.
Flow Visualization and Analysis – Understanding how CFD results are visualized and interpreted using parameters such as velocity, pressure, temperature, and flow patterns.
