About Event

KERNEL PRIME’26 — THE CORE OF INNOVATION is a 24-hour offline hackathon organized by the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering & Electronics Engineering (VLSI Design & Technology), S.A. Engineering College, Chennai.

Scheduled to be held on October 8 & 9, 2026, the hackathon brings together engineering students to solve real-world challenges through innovation, technology and teamwork. Participants can compete under Hardware and Software tracks, developing practical solutions within a 24-hour timeframe.

The event begins with an online registration and Open Innovation proposal screening process. Teams of 2–4 members can submit their project proposal and PPT for initial evaluation. Shortlisted teams will be invited to participate in the offline hackathon.

The Hardware Track focuses on electronics, embedded systems, IoT, automation, robotics and related technologies, while the Software Track focuses on software development, AI/ML, web and mobile applications, automation and other software-based solutions.

With a prize pool of ₹50,000, KERNEL PRIME’26 aims to provide a platform for students to think beyond conventional solutions, build meaningful prototypes and demonstrate their technical capabilities in a competitive environment.
