About Event

Parsec - A Paradigm Shift

The Indian Institute of Technology Dharwad (IIT Dharwad) is an autonomous premier engineering and technology institute in Dharwad, Karnataka, India. IIT Dharwad started functioning from July 2016 in Water and Land Management Institute (WALMI) Campus in Belur, on the outskirts of Dharwad city. It was formally inaugurated on 28 August 2016. The institute offers B.Tech courses in three branches, viz. Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, and Mechanical Engineering and has over 500 students. Additionally, the Ph.D. programs commenced from January 2018 session.

PARSEC - A Paradigm Shift, is the first edition of the Technology Festival of IIT Dharwad, which aims to bring together the unparalleled experience of magnificent technologists and the innate curiosity of passionate students by providing a common platform to showcase their expertise and hone their skills. The fest will be conducted from 14th Feb 2020 to 16th Feb 2020. While there is no doubt that technology has taken magnanimous leaps in the past few decades, this fest ambitiously aspires to see its progress in parsecs over the near future.

Events

The fest hosts three main events -

AlgoStrike is an algorithmic programming contest where teams of three are challenged to engineer a solution to an innovative problem by applying heuristic algorithms. Participants will have to design complex algorithms while ensuring efficiency to pave the way for the future of problem-solving.

DevHack 2.0 is the second edition of the annual hackathon conducted at IIT Dharwad. We have always believed that engineers, researchers, and industrialists have the power to revolutionize the world by transforming their inspiring ideas into solutions that positively impact society. The event aims to coalesce such an enthusiastic community in a 36-hour hackathon by ideating, innovating and hacking meaningful solutions to real-life problems in various fields of AI, Blockchain, FinTech, Health, etc.

VeniVidiVici is a jeopardy style Information Security challenge where teams compete and put their hacking skills to the test to capture various flags hidden throughout the various tasks given to them. The event aims to provide a controlled and secure environment that is capable of simulating realistic conditions similar to those faced by security professionals in their daily life.

The fest has gained support from many companies and it would thrill us to have others interested to join us in our journey to bring radical change and inspire future generations.
