About Event

This seminar focuses on facilitating the student and faculties to gain knowledge in quality of power in renewable energy systems in both grid connected and standalone systems.
There are many renewable energy sources such as biomass, solar, wind, mini-hydro and tidal power. Power electronics finds applications in most RES technologies, solar and wind energy
systems being the most important applications. This seminar with training has been designed to cover topics related to the design of alternative energy based systems with less power quality issues.
The main objective of this training is to focus on the measuring and mitigation of power quality issues using power quality analyzer. The output of many renewable generators like  photovoltaic cells, fuel cells, etc. is variable dc, which requires a dc/ac conversion stage for grid and standalone systems. For other renewable generators with variable ac output, like wind or sea-wave generators, one can at first convert the variable ac to dc and then do dc-ac conversion to connect to the utility line or use a direct ac-ac conversion.
