METTLE is the Annual Technical Symposium of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering Department,NIT Trichy. It is celebrated as a Tech-Fest during which students from different colleges all over the country participate in a variety of events, which include Paper Presentation , Materials Quiz conducted by IIM , Industrial Problem Solving and other Materials- oriented workshops and win cash prizes up to Rs.10,000.
The most prestigious of them all is FABSTEEL, which is an online Steel Simulation Game, which is unique to this symposium.
METTLE has also drawn dignitaries from prestigious institution like TV Narendran, MD of TATA Steels and delegates from other central Government Centers of Excellence like BHEL,BARC, IISc , etc. to deliver awe-inspiring lectures.
From the time of its inception, METTLE has been synonymous with innovation and has served as a platform for brainstorming ideas and implementing them. It prides on the fact that the intersection of the Venn Diagrams of various Engineering and Science fields is ‘Materials’. Year after year, the symposium has seen an increasing number of participants from not just Metallurgy, but other departments as well. This is an assertion or, rather a reconfirmation of the fact that METTLE has become diversified to position itself for a provision of solutions to Global Crisis.
