How to reach NIT Calicut

Calicut (Kozhikode) (www.kozhikode.nic.in) is well-known place, where first European Vasco da Gama landed in India in 1498. Kozhikode was once the capital of the powerful sea-lords known as Zamorins or Samuthiris, and till date is a prosperous center of trade and commerce. The idyllic setting, with the Arabian sea on the west and Wayanad (www.wayanad.nic.in), the land of spicy hills, is about 70 kms away from Calicut city, on the east, has made it a popular tourist destination over the years. Today, the town is known for its beautiful countryside, pristine beaches, historic sites, calm backwaters (www.keralabackwater.com), wildlife sanctuaries, rivers, timber industry and ayurvedic medicines. The famous Silent Valley National Park is about 60kms from the city (www.tourismofkerala.com/wildlife/silent_valley/). The coconut trees that streamline the vast area of this region add exciting view to the scenic beauty of the entire city (www.keralatourism.org).
