Using Laser Light and photon's energy for Doppler Effects, he successfully cooled the atoms to very low temperatures to effectively trap them and conduct further studies. This outstanding work won him the Nobel Prize in Physics in the year 1997. He is also a member of the USA Science and Engineering Festival's Advisory Board.
