About Event

Smart energy challenge (SEC)

Powering the Future of Electrical & Energy Innovation

Challenge Aim - Smart energy challenge (SEC) is a hands on technical challenge focused on electrical engineering, power systems, renewable energy, and smart energy solutions. The event challenges participants to solve real-world energy and power problems by designing innovative hardware- or simulation-based solutions that are practical, efficient, and scalable.

Requirements

1. Teams of 2–5 participants
2. Basic knowledge of electrical circuits, power systems, or electronics
3. Laptop with required software (MATLAB, Proteus, Arduino IDE, etc.)
4. Hardware components (microcontrollers, sensors, relays, etc.)

Rules & Regulations

1. Each team must select only one problem statement for the competition.
2. All solutions must be original and developed exclusively during the hackathon.
3. Both hardware-based prototypes and software/simulation-based solutions are permitted.
4. Teams must strictly adhere to electrical and laboratory safety standards throughout the event.
5. Plagiarism, reuse of pre-built projects, or copied solutions will result in immediate disqualification.
6. The evaluation will be conducted in two stages:
Stage 1: Abstract Submission, Teams must submit a detailed abstract of their proposed solution. Shortlisted teams will be selected for the next round.
Evaluation will be done based on online presentation
Deadline: Jan 20 (Tuesday) and presentation will be after 20th of January

Stage 2: Final Offline Presentation & Demonstration, Shortlisted teams must present their complete solution with a working prototype or simulation.
Final Presentation: Feb 5 (THURSDAY)

Registration Fee: 200 Rupees (for Round 2)

All teams must submit a final presentation and live demo during Stage 2.

Problem Statement 1:  Smart Energy Monitoring and Load Optimization System

Participants are required to design and develop a smart energy monitoring and load
optimization system that continuously measures electrical parameters such as voltage,
current, power, power factor, and energy consumption. The system should analyze usage
patterns and intelligently control or recommend load operation to reduce peak demand and
unnecessary power usage.

Problem Statement 2:  Renewable Energy Integration with Energy Storage for Reliable
Power Supply

Participants must design a renewable energy management system that integrates a
renewable source (solar/wind) with an energy storage unit. The system should manage
power flow between the source, storage, and load to maintain a stable and reliable supply.

Problem Statement 3:  Smart EV Charging and Power Management System

Design and implement a smart EV charging and power management system that optimizes
charging based on available power, time of use, and safety constraints. The system should
prevent overloading and support efficient energy usage.
