OBJECTIVES OF THE WORKSHOP
 To introduce the participants to various CAD/CAM packages available for modelling and simulation and to provide them hands on training using suitable CAM software.
 To train the participants in the basics of CNC programming.
 To demonstrate the working and material removal process in CNC Vertical Machining Centre.

COURSE CONTENTS
CAD/CAM BASICS :
 Introduction to CAD/CAM software and basics of modelling and CAM concepts.
 Selection of cutting parameters and tool path verification.
 NC Code generation and simulation of the machining process.
CNC PROGRAMMING :
 Introduction to CNC machines, co-ordinate systems & machining parameters.
 Axis nomenclature for milling operation including machine datum & work datum.
 Programming structure and programming cycles for basic milling operations including tool radius compensation.
HANDS-ON TRAINING:
 Machine specification and different parts of CNC Vertical Machining Centre.
 Operating modes in FANUC oi-MD including tool and work piece set up.
 Tool offset and wear offset definitions.
 Canned cycle programming and hands-on training incorporating cutter radius and wear rate compensation.
