Stabilize 2k17, Shanmuganathan Engineering College, Technical Symposium, Arasampatti, Tamil Nadu, 23rd September 2017
CLASH OF CADD
“Being versatile is a good quality to be possessed by an engineer”. Are you a techno- wizard? Do you want to prove yourself as a techno-civilian? Then substantiate your versatility by smudging your knacks of civil engineering with software. STABILIZE-2K17 has set to test your software knowledge in par with core knowledge. Let’s see who cracks first and best!
Prelims will be pen and paper type with questions related to AUTOCAD
Qualified participants will be provided with a problem statement on the spot. The participants must come up with the solution within the stipulated time. The participants will be provided with pre-installed AUTOCAD systems.
GREAT WALL OF STABILIZE
“A Great Building will never stand if you neglect the small bricks” Whenever we think about the word ‘civil engineering’ the first thing that strikes our mind is the solid reddish brown object- “Brick”. STABILIZE- 2K17 provides you the real engineering stage to bring up your bread and butter combination which is none other than the “Brick and Mortar”. Yes, you are going to construct a real wall and we are going to enjoy your passion of construction. Let’s join hands together and see who makes “The Great Wall of STABILIZE” – A Marvel of Civil Engineering symposium.
Construct a wall junction (T-shaped or L-shaped) of specified height and thickness of one or two bricks.
Height, thickness of wall and type of junction will be announced on spot.
A Squad of 2 members from same college can take part in this event.
Round-1 – Prelims(Pen and paper type):
Questions will be asked on Basic civil engineering and Building Technology.
Round-2 – Finals.
Only 5 eligible teams will be selected to final construction round.
Bricks and Ready mix cement mortar will be provided in required quantities based upon the problem statement.
One trowel, plumb bob and necessary tools will be provided to each team.
Time duration: 2 hours
NOTE: Problem Statement may not be the same for all teams.
• Type of Bond adopted.
• Verticality of the wall.
• Thickness of mortar layer.
• Dimensional appropriateness.
• Overlapping of bricks.
``The scientist merely explores
that which exists,
while the engineer creates
what has never existed before.''
STABILIZE-2K17 is set to collaborate ideas of a scientist and accomplishment of an engineer to innovate the world of civil engineering. Those inborn scientist cum engineer who have their innovative ideas and models to be exposed to the atmosphere are welcomed with immense pleasure to display your projects to the world of innovation. The podium is waiting for you!
Maximum of 2 authors per team and can be from any discipline. The project or model you are going to display can be Based on multi-disciplinary concepts. But the product must be primarily useful in civil engineering areas. It can also be your final year project. The project can be in any form like PowerPoint Presentation, Working models, Prototypes, STADD PRO models, AutoCAD models. A detailed abstract about your project should be mailed To email@example.com with the subject as INNOVATIVE EXPO with full details of participants. Selected abstracts will be intimated through mail on Selected teams must present their project on spot.
Time duration: 15minutes ( can be extended)
If you have photographs of your project, it can also be attached in the abstract.
If your project is not having any application related to Civil engineering, it will not be considered for judging. The project should be a new one or a renovation of previous versions. If the project is a replica of already existing ones, the team will be disqualified.
• Extent of application in civil engineering areas.
Are you good at explaining civil engineering concepts with the help of models? Here is the chance! Construct any civil engineering model of your choice and present it during stabilize2k17. Main objective of this competition is to encourage students to design and build a civil engineering model by applying their Knowledge and creativity.
You need: To submit an abstract about your model to firstname.lastname@example.org Interest in building models and fabrication skills.
Participant teams are required to send a detailed abstract of the model they are planning to build to email@example.com along with their Moments ID.
The abstract should consist of Brief description of the model. Materials needed for the model. Plan of the model (including dimensions) A confirmation mail will be send to shortlisted teams to proceed with building of the model.
In this round, participants have to present their model in front of the judge during STABILIZE 2K17.
• Design and fabrication
• Engineering explanation of the model
• Aesthetic appeal
• Each team should consist of maximum 2 members only
• Inter college teams are allowed.
• Participants can choose a
A Poster Presentation advertises your thought. It combines text and graphics to present your project in a way that is visually interesting and accessible. It allows you to display your work to a large group of graduating engineers and to talk to and to receive feedback from an interested viewer. The poster should be able to stand on its own as a clear, logical presentation of your work, without any explanation from you. Here’s a great opportunity for your imagination and artistic talent. Enter this platform STABILIZE-2K17 to prove your artistic expression!
