Short Film Competition

βTechnology for a Better Tomorrowβ
π Rules & Regulations
1. π₯ Team Size
Each team must consist of 4 students.
2. π₯ Originality
The Short Film must be original and created entirely by the participating students.
3. π Student Participation
Students may take up roles such as acting, direction, cinematography, editing, and production.
4. π Theme
The film must be based on or clearly connected to the given theme: βTechnology for a Better Tomorrow.β
5. π± Equipment
Mobile phones or cameras may be used for shooting the film.
6. β±οΈ Duration
The film must not exceed 5 minutes.
7. π΅ Audio & Media
Only original or copyright-free music, images, and video clips may be used.
8. π« Content Restrictions
Offensive, obscene, discriminatory, or politically sensitive content is strictly prohibited.
9. π€ AI & Animation
AI-generated content and fully animated films are not allowed. The film must be based on real, student-created video footage.
10. β Previous Work
Films that have been previously published or submitted to another competition are not eligible.
11. π₯ Video Submission
All participating teams must submit their final Short Film in MP4 format to gvgsynova@gmail.com on or before September 21, 2026.
12. π File Naming
The video file must be named in the following format:
CollegeName_TeamName_FilmTitle.mp4
13. β οΈ Submission Responsibility
Teams must ensure that the submitted video is accessible and plays properly. Videos submitted after the deadline or in an inaccessible format may not be considered for screening.
14. π₯οΈ Screening
The submitted films will be screened during the competition according to the schedule decided by the event coordinators.
15. β οΈ Technical Responsibility
Teams are responsible for ensuring that their submitted video meets the required format, duration, and quality before submission. No changes or replacements will be permitted after the submission.
16. π Decision
The judgesβ decision will be final and binding.

The event hosts two competitions: Crime Film Review and Short Film Making. The Crime Film Review Competition is an host event open only to students of NFSU, Gandhinagar Campus. However, Short Film Making Competition is open to all film enthusiasts and budding filmmakers across India. The Short Film Making Competition tests your artisticity and creativity by challenging you to make an original crime Short Film.
The registration for the Short Film Making Competition closes on September 30, 2026. The registration fee for the competition is Rs. 1000 per entry. However if you on or before September 6, 2026, the registration fee is reduced to Rs. 700. Further, the last date for submission of Short Films is on October 30, 2026. Once the submitted Short Films are undergone through a review process by our jury, the top films will be screened at Criminologia E Cinema 2026, which will be held on November 27, 2026 at National Forensic Sciences University, Gandhinagar. The winners of the event will be awarded a first prize of βΉ60,000, second prize of βΉ30,000, and third prize of βΉ10,000 on stage during the event.
The guidelines for submitting Short Films are listed below.
1. The film should engage with the subject matter of crime or related areas in a creative and interesting way. We encourage filmmakers to base their Short Films on knowledge and reality.
2. The maximum runtime is 12 minutes total, including all opening and closing credits.
3. You can have a maximum of 10 members who own the film and an unlimited number of members who work on the film.
4. The films should be submitted in an HD MP4 file (1080x1920) in the standard 16:9 Landscape ratio.
5. The film can be in any language, but English subtitles must be included.
Submission of the Short Films are through online mode only.
