GIET University, Gunupur (formerly known as Gandhi Institute of Engineering and Technology) was established by “Vidya Bharati Educational Trust,†Gunupur, Odisha, India in the year 1997. Since inception, the Trust promotes Technical Education in India with a motto of providing Quality Education in a highly disciplined and conducive environment with International Standards.

How to Reach
Gunupur is well connected both by rail and road. Around 120 buses connect to Gunupur directly with Cuttack, Bhubaneswar, Berhampur, Jeypore, Nawarangpur, Sunabeda, Rayagada,Bhawanipatna, Indravati, Damanjodi, Umerkote etc. in Odisha and Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram, Srikakulum etc. in Andhra Pradesh. It has got the rail connection that links Gunupur with Naupada, a junction on Howrah Chennai route. Express trains like Bokaro Allepy, Samata, Samaleswari etc link Gunupur via Rayagada, Odisha and trains like Howrah - Chennai Mail, Guwahati-Express, Falaknuma Express etc. like all other south bound trains link Gunupur at Palasa, AP.
