BloomBox, the Entrepreneurship Cell of K. J. Somaiya College of Engineering in association with Xinfin (Technology Partner) and tradescrypt.com (Training & Organising Partner) is organizing the ‘Global Blockchain Hackathon 2018’ which will kick off on 19th of December and continue till 22nd of December, 2018.
As the global trend towards digitalization accelerates, organizations need to produce fresh perspectives of doing business. We are committed to create a comprehensive ecosystem where innovators would grow, prosper and form a significant part of the mainstream economy. We invite solution creators and visionaries to explore technology and business innovations to help shape the future!
The objective of Hackathon is to give a platform to enterprising youth, startups & entrepreneurs across the nation and use their out-of-the-box thinking on Blockchain tech and to gather developers, students, creatives and community leaders who will showcase their skills and vision for the next generation of up and coming innovators.
Global Blockchain Hackathon 2018, envisaged as a three day event is one of its kind initiative for promotion of Information Technology at K. J. Somaiya College of Engineering which aims to give a platform to all tech-enthusiasts to showcase their unique coding skills in Blockchain technology.
Global Blockchain Hackathon 2018 invites participants from across the globe and will produce immensely talented coders which will help to take the Blockchain Technology to great heights.
This hackathon challenges hackers, designers, and idea generators to create immersive projects using the blockchain and/ or cryptocurrency technologies. Develop the next generation of ideas that will transform the crypto industry for a chance to win INR 1,00,000.
This is an ON-SITE hackathon. Please register only if you're on location.
Team Size Allowed: 1 - 4 membersPrizes:
First Prize - INR 50,000
Second Prize - INR 30,000
Third Prize - INR 20,000
Rules:
• All code, design and assets must be written and created during the duration of the Hackathon. You cannot use existing code that you have written and finish it during the event.
• The team members need to bring their own laptops, cell phones, mobile charger, power bank, multi-plug, etc. It is better if the team keeps an USB internet modem with them so that they can use it if any unavoidable circumstance occurs.
• The organizers reserve the right to make changes to the event program.
• You are permitted to use any publicly available open source resources (APIs, images, datasets, etc.) in your prototype.
• Participants are free to make plans and brainstorm prior to the event.
• Only registered teams will be allowed to participate in the hackathon.
FAQs:
1) Do I need to pay any money to register for the Global Blockchain Hackathon?
No. You do not have to pay anything to anyone to register yourself for any Global Blockchain Hackathon.
2) Do I need to have any specific qualifications to be a participant for the Hackathon?
If you love to code, you are more than welcome to participate in the Hackathon.
3) Do we need to have the entire idea fully working?
The entire idea need not be fully implemented however, the submission should be functional so that it can be reviewed by the judges.
4) Since there is no specific technology mentioned, are there any restrictions on using number of pre-built libraries?
There is no restriction to use any language, technology stack, or libraries. You can use any of them to create the web/mobile application.
5) Who will own the IP (Intellectual Property) Rights to the product that I have built?
The developer(s) of the web/ mobile application will have all rights and own the IP of the product.
6) If I am not a resident of Mumbai, is arrangement for accommodation for the hackathon possible?
Yes, arrangements will be made.
Events
The flow of the event will be:
• 19th December: Hands-on Workshop (The hackathon participants will learn about Blockchain and understand various tools required in creating Blockchain based application and products)
• 21st and 22nd December: Hackathon (The actual competition)
• 22nd December: Final Presentation (The participants will pitch their prototype before the Judges)
