Bangalore, Karnataka, February 26th, 2014: Symbiosis Institute of Business Management Bengaluru (SIBM-B) is all set to host its 1st National Level Student Conference “Symposio 2014” on 1st March, 2014. The Students’ Research Committee of the institute is organizing the same. Symposio 2014 aims to provide a platform for the students to showcase their intellectual insights on current management scenarios. The theme for “Symposio 2014” is “Big Data Analytics: Transforming Businesses from Reactive to Proactive” About Symposio 2014: “Numbers have an important story to tell; they rely on you to give them a voice” -Stephen Rew The volume, variety and velocity of data coming into an organization continue to reach unprecedented levels. The facts one needs are likely buried within a jumble of legacy systems, hidden in plain sight. Big data is the next frontier for innovation, competition, and productivity. The management world in recent times is buzzing with big data analytics to transform data to knowledge and information to drive their business to success. The spotlight for “Symposio 2014” is on “Big Data Analytics: Transforming Businesses from Reactive to Proactive”. “Symposio 2014” attempts to capture the spirit of big data and analytics through stimulating discussions to scrutinize application of analytics in the four pillars of management vis-à-vis Finance, Marketing, HR and Operations through white paper presentations and seminars by eminent speakers in the domain. About Student Research Committee, SIBM Bengaluru: The aim of this committee is to encourage people to come out in the open and express their opinion and help the students gain recognition for the same. “SymSpeak” is a blogging contest wherein students write on any topic related to management and the best articles get published in the college magazine “Symbeat”. It is also the official quizmaster of SIBM Bengaluru wherein regular quizzes and debates like “Big Fight” are organized to keep students abreast with the current happenings. “Symposio” is the flagship event of Students Research Committee which invites students for a national level paper presentation conference. The research committee provides a platform to the students of SIBM Bengaluru to come forth and enhance their knowledge. The committee’s agenda is to motivate students to write research papers and provide them with the necessary assistance in getting them published/presented in a conference. “Orion” is an annual research journal of SIBM Bengaluru, which helps students gain a good grasp on the core subjects and build their resumes. As future managers, it is this clarity that will give the students an edge over others and gain a place for themselves in the corporate world.

Speakers for Symposio-2014: Dr. K. Raghava Rau: Dr. K. Raghava Rau is the co-founder and CEO of Bigdata analytics India Pvt. Ltd. with 18 years of rich experience in developing innovative solutions for large scale business problems (sales and marketing, supply chain and pricing areas) using Advanced Analytics and Operations Research. Recently, he and his team received a nomination for the Edelman Laureate award for their contributions to Dell’s channel transformation story (with $140 million ROI). His experience includes working with multiple stakeholders and business partners from conceptualizing to operationalizing analytics solutions that help businesses maximize margins. He holds a PhD in Operations Research from IIT, Madras. Dr. Rajaram Kudli: Dr. Rajaram Kudli is a PhD in computational Intelligence & Appliances from IIT, Kharagpur. He is an M.Tech in Production Science & Technology from IIT, Kharagpur; BE in Industrial & Production Engineering, University of Mysore. He has more than 20 years of experience in teaching, consulting, research and development. He has an expertise in Analytic Process Automation, Data Mining Solutions, Neural Networks, Fuzzy Logic and Genetic Algorithms for modelling, control and optimization of engineering and business processes in industry, CAD/CAM, visualization.
