About the event
Dhanak is the annual cultural fest of the Indian Institute of Space Science & Technology, Trivandrum. It is a four-day long event held in the odd semester each year and is attended by students from across South India and some parts of North India. With events ranging from literary & music-art-dance to visual arts & film-making, it presents the perfect platform to expose the participants to healthy competition and also bag prizes while they are at it.
Dhanak has been graced by eminent personalities such as IIST’s chancellor and former President Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, Academy Award winner Resul Pookuty, National Award winner Balachandra Menon and K J Yesudas enlightening everyone with their experiences.
As is tradition, this year we host the 7th edition of Dhanak (2015) with a theme. This year we have tried to explore the darkside of the force by thematizing War & Glory in the context of being grateful to the many sacrifices earning us all the trophy of the modern age. All the events in Dhanak 2015 will be blended with the Grand theme.
With a total prize money worth over 4 lakh INR, it is a very much anticipated affair throughout South India. This yearDhanak is going to be held on the dates 16-19 October, make sure you're there to witness this mesmerizing event.

How to Reach
Closest Airport - Trivandrum Internation Airport ,Closest Railway Station - Trivandrum Central Railway Station
From the Central Bus Station, Thampanoor (in front of Thiruvananthapuram Railway Station) take a bus to Vithura or Valiamala. Alight at 16th Mile Stone / ISRO Junction / Pathinaaram Kallu Stop. Follow sign boards to reach IIST campus. Last bus to Vithura from the Central Bus Station is around 9:30 p.m.
Alternatively, board a bus from Thampanoor or East Fort Bus Station (around 1 km from Thampanoor) to Nedumangadu. From Nedumangadu, frequent buses are available for ISRO junction. Auto rickshaws are also available from Nedumangadu to IIST (this would cost anywhere between Rs. 50 – 100).
It may take a little more than an hour to reach IIST from Thiruvananthapuram city under normal traffic conditions.
Bus fare would be approximately Rs.20 per person from Thampanoor to IIST.
Prepaid autos and taxis are available from the Central Railway Station (approx Rs. 300 for an auto and Rs.600 for a taxi).
Route to be followed: Thampanoor/Central Railway station or East Fort – Kowdiar – Peroorkada – Nedumangad – Karipoor - ISRO Junction – IIST.
From the Airport it would be advisable to reach East Fort or Thampanoor and then follow the information given above for buses.
Prepaid Taxis are available at the Airport and can be availed. The cost would be anywhere between Rs. 600 – Rs. 750.
