 isk\,<br />\nparticularly in development countries like India is a<br />\n
 problem that needs to be quickly solved. Urbanization s<br />\nrapidly inc
 reasing in every city in India. Huge<br />\ninfrastructure developmental p
 lans have been laid in all<br />\nthese cities which are demanding trained
  structural<br />\nengineers/consultants in a large number. It is observed
  that<br />\nlarge concentration of damage in specific areas during an<br 
 />\nearthquake is due to site dependent factors related to<br />\nsurface 
 geological conditions and local soil altering<br />\nseismic motion. To re
 duce the gap and transfer the<br />\nknowledge many workshops\, seminars\,
  sort courses and<br />\ntechnical lectures were conducted by IIT Indore\,
  t bring<br />\nthe awareness amongst the professional engineers.<br />\nT
 he course is designed to have a broader review on the<br />\nvarious aspec
 ts of Geotechnical Engineering interlinked<br />\nwith Earthquake Engineer
 ing. Each of these lectures<br />\nduring this short course addresses spec
 ific issues from the<br />\nbeginning to end (from engineering seismology 
 to<br />\nEarthquake resistant design). The course lectures cover<br />\nb
 oth fundamentals and applications including hands-on<br />\nexperience in 
 seismic design of sub-structures</p>
