 NAR<br />\nThe Protection of Plant Variety and Farmers Right Act\, 2001 (P
 PVFR Act) is an Act of the Parliament of India enacted to provide for the 
 establishment of an effective system for protection of plant varieties\, t
 he rights of farmers and plant breeders\, and to encourage the development
  and cultivation of new varieties of plants. This Act received the assent 
 of the President of India on the October 30\, 2001.<br />\n<br />\nPlant v
 ariety protection provides legal protection of a plant variety to a breede
 r in the form of Plant Breeder's Rights. Plant Breeder's Rights (PBRs) are
  intellectual property rights that provide exclusive rights to a breeder o
 f the registered variety.<br />\n<br />\nThe Plant Variety Protection and 
 Farmers Rights Act (PPVFRA)\, 2001\, a sui generis system\, is an attempt 
 by the Indian Government to recognize and protect the rights of both comme
 rcial plant breeders and farmers in respect of their contribution made in 
 conserving\, improving and making available plant genetic resources for de
 velopment of new plant varieties and to encourage the development of new p
 lants varieties.<br />\n<br />\nProtection of the plant varieties under th
 e PPVFR Act\, 2001 accelerates agricultural development and stimulates inv
 estment for research and development for the development of new plant vari
 eties\, which in turn facilitates the growth of the seed industry and ensu
 res the availability of high quality seeds and planting material to the fa
 rmers.<br />\n<br />\nABOUT INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY MANAGEMENT CELL (IPMC)<b
 r />\n<br />\nIntellectual Property Management Cell (IPMC) of The IIS Univ
 ersity was established in 2014 to support and manage the growing knowledge
  wealth of the University. The main objective of IPMC under academics is t
 o integrate IPR with the education process to enhance the quality of think
 ing\, propagate a culture of regard and respect for IPR\, ensure speedy an
 d accurate identification and protection of innovations arising out of the
  research work carried out in the university\, facilitate transfer of know
 ledge and technology from the university to industry and enhance the scope
  of their commercialization. The Cell also aims to offer assistance to gra
 ss-root innovators\, locally\, or in local vicinity\, to realize the comme
