REtopia was started by students from the Department of Energ y and Environment at TERI University in the year 2011 with an aim to bring together people sensitive to and willing to work against energy crisis wh ile generating awareness amongst students and the general public regarding the current energy scenario.
As the name suggests we want to bring to reality\, the world where there would be no pollution and energy is abu ndant. We want to bring this utopian dream to reality using renewable ener gy. But this cannot be done by students alone. The event involves people f rom varied backgrounds such as academia\, industry\, government\, entrepre neurs and students. That enables visualization of necessary innovations an d possible solutions to energy problems from varied and interesting perspe ctives.
REtopia has over the years seen participation of many studen ts both from Delhi and across the country. The last three editions of the conclave have seen participation of dignitaries from IIT Delhi\, Tata Powe r\, L &\; T\, Bureau of Energy Efficiency and other renowned organizati ons. Last year a number of luminaries and notable industrialists were a pa rt of the event such as Mr. Sunil Jain from Hero Future Energies\, Dr. P.C . Maithani from Ministry for New and Renewable Energy\, Dr. Kirk R. Smith from University of California Berkeley\, Mr. Mukul Sinha from Tata Power S olar\, Prof. L. M. Das from IIT Delhi\, Shri Sushanta K. Chatterjee from C entral Electricity Regulatory Commission\, Dr. Srikanta K. Panigrahi from Carbon Minus India (CMI) and many more.
