 on-traditional optimization techniques nowadays. Genetic Algorithm\, Simul
 ated Annealing\, Particle Swarm Optimization\, ant colony algorithm are so
 me of them. The heuristic optimization techniques have now gained immense 
 popularity in real-world engineering search and optimization problems all 
 over the world\, and the applications ranging from mechanical component de
 sign\, structure design\, process design\, planning\, job shop scheduling\
 , VLSI design\, control systems\, electrical power systems\, pattern recog
 nition\, operations research\, and machine learning. The objective of this
  workshop is to introduce a number of popular optimization methods used in
  design\, emphasize the importance of optimization in engineering activiti
 es\, introduce the working principles of various optimization techniques w
 ill be provided so that upon completion of the course the participants can
  use optimization techniques in their teaching\, research and other day-to
