\nOBJECTIVE:
\nOptimization i s the act of obtaining best solutions under the given circumstances. In an y engineering system\, engineers have to take many technological and manag erial decisions at several stages. The ultimate goal of all such decisions is either to minimize the effort required or to maximize the desired bene fit. Optimization is useful in making such decisions. A number of approach es have been emerged for solving different types of optimization problems. The nontraditional approaches are widely adapted now-a-days to solve thes e optimization problems. Its aimed to educate the fundamentals of optimiza tion problems\, their formulation\, its applications and various methods t o solve those problems. These Intelligent techniques are applied to determ ine solutions for several science and engineering problems. This course pr ovides in-depth coverage of linear\, nonlinear\, dynamic\, integer and sto chastic programming techniques. Also included are new or recently develope d methods\, such as evolutionary algorithms\, Nature Inspired Algorithms a nd various modern optimization techniques. Case studies and current litera ture on engineering optimization are also covered.
\nThis program wil l be centred on the development and application of these modern trends in optimization. The course contents will be taught by eminent experts in the field\, having adequate teaching and research experience. This course wil l be beneficial to faculty and scholars from all engineering disciplines a s a potential computing tool in their research activities.
