DESCRIPTION:<p>The basic objective of one day VAP on AICTE is to impact the
  knowledge of a smart grid .It is a version of the future power grid that 
 employs advanced equipment and services together with intelligent monitori
 ng\, control\, communication\, and smart protection. Interconnected inform
 ation and communication is essential for new smart grid technology. ICT\, 
 as used here\, refers to the communications networks that connect all part
 s of the grid including operations\, service providers\, customers\, distr
 ibution\, and transmission by facilitating communications between machines
 \, between humans\, and between humans and machines. ICT applications can 
 include “sensors for remote measuring\, chips and controllers for monito
 ring\, smart meters… grid management systems… load analysis and automa
 ted dispatch software… demand response software that allows automated lo
 ad maintenance\, The potential offered by smart grids and new fast control
 lable power systems equipment needs to be exploited by development of valu
 able applications for power system operation. Moreover\, first experiences
  with selected dedicated applications call for the design of an integrated
  wide area monitoring\, protection and control (WAMPAC) system.. Advanced 
 software and hardware systems are also necessary to provide consumers with
  information needed to control and balance the power demand. IEDs are requ
 ired in smart grid systems to provide advanced digital relaying for protec
 tion\, fault records\, and measurements of any other events occurring in t
 he power grid. In addition\, PMUs are needed to increase security and effi
 ciency of protection levels of the smart grid system\, besides wide area m
 onitoring\, protection\, and control (WAMPC) using SCADA.</p>
