Biomarker is a characteristic that is objectively measured a nd evaluated as an indicator of normal biological processes\, pathogenic p rocesses or pharmacological responses to a therapeutic intervention. The r ole of biomarkers in drug discovery and development has gained precedence< br />\nover the years. As biomarkers become
\nintegrated into drug de velopment and
\nclinical trials\, quality assurance and in
\npar ticular assay validation becomes
\nessential with the need to establi sh
\nstandardized guidelines for analytical
\nmethods used in bi omarker
\nmeasurements. The emergence of the
\nfield of bioanaly sis in drug discovery and
\ndrug development is well understood and\nglobally accepted. The aim of this workshop is to understand the cur rent state-of-the art in the development of
\nbiomarkers\, issues inv olved in their future development and its use. Further\, this workshop als o highlights the importance of the drug safety concept and its impact on p atients’ health.
