Odisha has a history spanning a period of over 5\,000 years. Before Kalinga it was named as Udra or "Odra Desa". The Ancient Odra desa or Ordesa was limited to the valley of Mahanadi and to the lower course o f Subarnarekha River. It comprised the whole of the present districts of C uttack and Sambalpur and a portion of Midnapur. Bounded on the west by Gon dwana\, on the north by the wild hill states of Jaspur and Singhbhum\, on the east by the sea and on the South by Ganjam\, Odisha has a legendary hi story.
Odissi (Orissi) dance and music are classical art forms. Odis si is the oldest surviving dance form in India on the basis of archaeologi cal evidence. The variety of dances includes Ghumura Dance\, Chhau dance\, Mahari dance\, and Gotipua.
Nurturing the same we NSS Bureau of KII T University is trying to portray the rich cultural heritage along with it s historic significance in our annual NSS festival KALRAV’14. It will wi tness the participation of more than 100s of volunteers from various distr icts of Odisha with a motto of unity and brotherhood.
The main event will comprise of an inspirational talk by social activist\, able leaders. We are not restricted to listening but this theory will be backed by real term unity games. Fun-games section will not only promote unity but also help student to share experience and lead at various situations. The tour followed by this will help the students identify the true terms of culture .
Thus KALRAV’14 will truly standby it’s theme “Blend with Col ours of Odisha.”
