This FDP on “The Role of Smart Materials in D igital Manufacturing and Fourth Industrial Revolution (Factories for Futur e)” is significant for the faculty to carry out research in the applicat ions of smart materials including digital manufacturing and smart cities. The knowledge on smart materials\, its role and advanced applications help s to focus on developing smart structures\, actuators and sensors\, which plays the key role in digital manufacturing and “Industry 4.0”. This F DP provides a platform for the faculty members to interact with the variou s experts in the different fields working on smart materials. New innovati ons and solutions may be derived to modernize and optimize the current man ufacturing systems through interdisciplinary research.
