CONCRETUS 20’ is a two National level technical fest organ ized by the Department of Civil engineering\, SRM Institute of science and technology in association with the Indian Concrete Institute.
\n“T ell me and I forget\, teach me and I may remember\, involve me and I learn .” Hence anything is done with involvement results in deep learning. Wit h this as the motto of CONCRETUS 20’\, it offers a wide range of events and workshops for students pursuing their undergraduate and postgraduate c ourses in civil engineering and Architecture\, by involving them in solvin g day to day technical problems in an innovative way. This makes the stude nts think laterally and helps them in strengthening their foundation to ma ke their future more technical and innovative.
\nThere are various co mpetitions going to be held in this technical fest\, namely\, DAVIDOVITS ( Geopolymer concrete for novel construction)\, AITCIN (High-performance con crete)\, CURVA GEOMETRIA (Complex transportation problems)\, GEOWALL (Mech anical stabilization of earth fill). GEOVIDEO (Pictorial explanation of ba sic Geotechnical concepts) and CONSILID (Full-fledged city planning and de signing. These competitions involve younger minds to apply their theoretic al learnings to bring up hidden innovations from them.
\nCONCRETUS 20 ’ also brings many workshops and hands-on training sessions\, with the a im to build a Knowledge sharing platform between experts and the students\ , to enhance and strengthen them in specialized areas. The various worksho ps that are being conducted are Introduction to BIM\, Introduction to Q-GI S\, Self-compacting concrete\, Practical applications on analysis and desi gn\, Coconut shell concrete\, Rapid 3D Modelling using Arc-GIS and Introdu ction to prestressed concrete. These workshops aim in enhancing the knowle dge of the students in the above topics and try to fill the void space in interacting with Industrial experts.
\nAny festival is incomplete wit hout fun and enjoyment apart from the usual schedule. Hence\, as an add on \, many sports activities\, like Badminton\, basketball\, etc. and Quiz se ssions are held. The winners of the competitions are awarded with exciting prizes and based on points (includes participation\, winning events and g ames)\, the overall trophy will be given to the college having the maximum points.
