Get your pens and paper ready to research out of the box, as the wait is finally over! We at the Jaypee Model United Nations are delighted to present before you, the agendas of the various committees for the 10th edition of one of the most awaited conferences of the year happening on the 18th and 19th of January 2020.

International Media Congress(IMC):
Media, the fourth pillar of democracy plays a vital role in shaping public opinions. However, does the mass media deliver what contemporary democracies require? Or, does it pose a threat to citizens' fundamental right to privacy through intricate surveillance of an entire or a substantial fraction of a population? In light of this, we are glad to announce the agenda for the IMC committee: “Establishing a Draft Convention outlining international guidelines for media surveillance." We have Vishwas Agarwal as the Chairperson and Shivansh Chauhan as the Vice Chairperson for this committee.

UNHRC:
Sexual orientation is a relatively recent notion in human rights law and one of the most controversial topics in politics. With increased global media attention on acts of discrimination towards people with varied sexual orientations, protecting the rights of these minorities has taken the center stage. Given this, we are glad to announce the agenda for the UNHRC committee: “Protecting the Rights of minorities based on Sexual Orientation." We have Syeda Sana as the President and Sitara Srinivas as the Vice President for this committee.

Lok Sabha:
Indian economy is described as the tenth-largest economy in the world by nominal GDP. However, the GDP growth of the Indian Economy touched a six-year low in the first financial quarter of April-June 2019. Keeping in mind the current state of the Indian economy, we are glad to announce the agenda for the Lok Sabha committee: "Discussion on economic slowdown in India." We have Udit Malik as the Speaker and Manaswita as the Deputy Speaker for this particular committee.

UNGA:
Neocolonialism is the act of controlling of a less developed nation by a developed one through indirect means. While it may seem to be of help to a less developed country, critics, however, argue that it leads to a situation of dependency. The underdeveloped nations are treated as reservoirs of cheap labor and raw material. Concerning this, we are pleased to announce the agenda for UNGA: "Devising strategies to counter the rise of neocolonialism." We have Mudit Marwah as the President and Tayyaba Rizwan as the Vice President for this committee.

UNODC:
When the proceeds of illegal drug trades are used as fundings for the insurgency around the world, it is termed as narco-terrorism. Drug trafficking is often associated with heightened violence in a region and in certain cases, drugs also have been used as a currency for commissioning terrorist attacks. Keeping in mind the gravity of this issue, we are proud to announce the agenda for UNODC: "Tackling Nacro terrorism with special emphasis on Southeast Asia." We have Sankalp Chawla as the Executive Director and Shorya Jain as the Deputy Executive Director for this committee.

UNSC:
Fair elections play a critical role in political transitions by advancing democratization and encouraging political liberalization. However, failing to meet this results in hyperinflation, escalating starvation and emigration from the country on a massive scale. With concerns regarding this topic, we present before you the agenda for our final committee, the UNSC: "Situation in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela." We have Nikhil Goyal as the President and Manas Agarwal as the Vice President for this last committee.
