Mechanical Engineering Department and Mechatronics Engineering department of Thiagarajar College of Engineering, Madurai jointly organizes an one week AICTE QIP Sponsored Short Term Course on “Smart Supply Chain in Industry 4.0: Research Trends And Challenges” during 18th March 2019 to 24th March 2019. This short-term course has an interdisciplinary capability in combining Mechanical, Mechatronics, Information Technology and Industrial Engineering. The main goal of this course is to explore the potential research fields and challenges in the Smart supply chain for industry 4.0. Digital transformation is a revolutionary technology and will play an important role in the current industrial revolution witnessed by the world; it will demonstrate that industries should enter the digital world to survive and compete. Industry 4.0 can enable the smart factory, connect supply network and logistics capabilities and inform planning and inventory processes, along with a host of other capabilities, allowing organizations to know things they previously did not know. Smart supply chain logistics concern the various aspects of end-to-end logistics in the context of Industry 4.0, the internet of Things, cyber-physical systems, emerging technologies, advanced data analytics and autonomous decisions enabled by Artificial Intelligence. As the collaboration between suppliers, manufacturers and customers is crucial to increase the transparency of all the steps from when the order is dispatched until the end of the life cycle of the product, it is therefore necessary to analyze the impact of Industry 4.0 on the supply chain as a whole.
The topics will be handled by Professors from IITs, IIMs, Hannam Univerisy Korea, University Malaysia and experts from Industries.
