Chemical Engineering department's annual technological symposium of Indian Institute Of Technology Kharagpur
The Chemical Engineering Department of IIT Kharagpur plays host to CHEMINSIGHT organized in the month of March. Started in 2004 as an effort to promote undergraduate-level research, ChemInsight today spans over a wide vista of events that give students an opportunity to hone their skills. The annual technical festival provides an excellent platform for budding chemical engineers from across the country to showcase their ideas and learn from industrial exposure.
ChemInsight is organized entirely by our students, beginning from the stage of conception to execution, management of events, with active guidance from the faculty. ChemInsight sees participation of students from various engineering colleges across the country presenting their theoretical and practical work, to a wide ranging audience of industrialists, academicians and the student community. It also is a meeting place of the world of academics and the industry, identifying areas of convergence of latest research in the cutting edge fields of chemical engineering and industry.
Kharagpur is known world over for two landmarks. One, the longest railway platform, and the other, the Indian Institute of Technology, more commonly known as lIT. Situated about 120 km west of Kolkata, Kharagpur can be reached in about 2 hours by train from Howrah railway station of Kolkata or 3 hours by car from Kolkata Airport. Kharagpur is also connected by direct train services to most major cities of the country. The Institute is about 10 minutes drive (5 km) from the Kharagpur railway station.
